Plan Your Stay

Stairs, access, and what to know before you book

Casa Nakhla is a two-story hacienda with no interior staircase connecting the floors — the two downstairs bedrooms are reached only from outside, down about four steps by the pool, with no handrail. The nearest bathroom to the pool and terrace is back inside the main house, roughly ten steps up. We don't have ramps, roll-in showers, or a documented wheelchair-accessible route here, and we'd rather tell you that plainly than have it be a surprise on arrival.

A two-story house, no interior stairs between floors

The upstairs holds three bedrooms reached from inside the main house. The downstairs — a queen suite and a bunk room — is reached only from outside, by the pool, down about four steps with no handrail. There is no interior staircase or door connecting the two levels; the same smart-lock code opens both the main entrance and the downstairs door, but functionally they're two separate wings of the house, not one continuous floor.

Around the grounds

The pool and terrace area doesn't have its own bathroom — the nearest one is back in the main house, a short walk of roughly ten steps up. The property itself sits in the hills of Camuy, so expect some grade around the grounds as you move between the house, the pool, and the parking area.

What we don't have

We want to be direct about this rather than let a guest find out the hard way: there are no ramps, no roll-in or curbless showers, and no documented wheelchair-accessible route anywhere on the property. If mobility, stairs, or a specific accommodation is a factor for anyone in your group, this likely isn't the right fit as-is — and we'd rather say so now than after you've booked.

Call us before you book

If stairs or mobility are a concern for anyone in your group, call or text us at 248-954-9091 before booking. We'll walk through the layout with you honestly — where the steps are, what's reachable and what isn't — so you can decide with real information, not guesswork.

Good questions

Is Casa Nakhla wheelchair accessible?+

No — we don't have ramps, roll-in showers, or a documented wheelchair-accessible route. It's a two-story hacienda with stairs both inside and around the grounds. Call us at 248-954-9091 before booking if this is a concern for your group.

Can you get from the bedrooms to the pool without using stairs?+

Not fully. The upstairs bedrooms are inside the main house; the downstairs bedrooms are reached only from outside, down about four steps by the pool with no handrail. There's no interior staircase linking the two floors.

Is there a bathroom right at the pool?+

No — the pool and terrace area has no bathroom of its own. The nearest one is inside the main house, about ten steps up.
