Supermercado Econo in Camuy is the closest, just down the road. Kash N' Karry is about 10–15 minutes; Walmart and Sam's Club in Hatillo are about 15–20. The hosts also offer a paid grocery pre-stocking add-on (free on stays of 7+ nights) — send a list and land to a stocked fridge.

Why the northwest coast

This is a quieter, more residential stretch of coast than the San Juan metro — hills, small towns and open ocean rather than hotel strips. It still sits within easy reach of both the island's north-coast airports and a full slate of day trips: waterfalls, caves, and a string of beaches from Hatillo to Aguadilla.

• Río Camuy Cave Park — about 15 minutes, and open: one of the largest cave systems in the hemisphere, right down the road. Worth checking current hours the day before you go.
• Cueva Ventana, Arecibo — about 30 minutes, a cliff cave with a valley view that's become one of the island's most photographed spots.
• Toro Verde Adventure Park — about 50 minutes, one of the world's longest ziplines.
• Rincón — about 1 hour, surf and sunset town.
• Old San Juan — about 1 hour 20 minutes, an easy historic day trip.
