What to do when the weather doesn't cooperate

At the villa: the game room and more

The game room has a pool table, an arcade basketball machine and board games — no need to go anywhere. The covered terrace seats the group for a meal with an ocean view whether it's raining or not, and with a full chef's kitchen plus a second kitchenette, two people can cook at once if everyone's waiting out weather together.

Open-air movie night, rain or shine

The villa's movie night runs on a 200-inch open-air screen with 4K triple-laser projection, Dolby Vision and 400W Dolby Atmos surround sound, with fresh popcorn made for the group. If winds pick up past 15 mph, the show simply moves to the 150-inch wall-mounted screen instead — still a real show, just under cover. It's $300 a night, or free once on stays of 7 nights or more; request it from your stay page and pick a preferred night plus a backup in case the weather doesn't cooperate.

For younger kids

The optional Kids' Package ($200/stay) adds an inflatable mega waterpark to the lawn for three full days — the first three or last three of your stay, your choice — on top of the arcade basketball the game room already has. It's built for ages 5–10, up to 5 kids at a time, with adult supervision required.

Río Camuy Cave Park — mostly underground, and open

About 15 minutes from the villa, Río Camuy Cave Park is one of the largest cave systems in the hemisphere, and it's open — most of the visit happens underground, so a passing shower outside doesn't really change the experience. It's still worth checking the day's hours before you drive out, the way you should for any local attraction.

A bakery run or a Hatillo mall trip

If everyone just needs to get out of the house for an hour, a panadería run is an easy indoor errand — Panadería El Cafetal in Camuy, or Panadería Lechuga and Coqui Pan in Hatillo, are all open early and stocked with pan and pastries. For something bigger, Walmart Supercenter in Hatillo's Plaza Del Mar Shopping Center gives teenagers somewhere to wander, and Plaza del Norte in Hatillo has both a supermarket and sit-down restaurants under one roof.
