Jobos Beach in Isabela: worth the 30-minute drive

Why Jobos is a day trip, not the everyday beach

At about 30 minutes from Casa Nakhla, Jobos is roughly three times the drive of Peñón Brusi (~10 min) or Playa Sardinera (~12 min) — the two beaches we'd point you to for a quick pool-day detour. Jobos earns the longer drive on its own merits (it's rated 4.7 from nearly 3,000 Google reviews), but it makes more sense as a planned half-day or full-day than a spontaneous afternoon stop.

What Jobos is known for

Jobos is Isabela's surf beach — a spot with real waves, beach bars nearby, and a reputation for good sunsets. That surf character cuts both ways: it's part of what makes Jobos worth the trip, and part of why it isn't the calm, wade-in beach that Playa Sardinera is. If anyone in your group is a nervous swimmer, this isn't the beach to test that on a rough day.

Round out the day: Pozo de Jacinto, Cara del Indio, Túnel de Guajataca

Isabela has more than the beach. Pozo de Jacinto is a scenic spot rated 4.8 from over 2,000 reviews, open around the clock. Cara del Indio, a clifftop tourist attraction, rates 4.7 from nearly 2,500 reviews, also open 24 hours. And the Túnel de Guajataca, on the Isabela/Quebradillas line, is a well-known local landmark rated 4.7 from over 5,000 reviews. None of these have posted hours beyond "open 24 hours," but that doesn't mean they're lit or staffed after dark, so plan a daytime visit.

Planning the trip

• Go earlier in the day rather than late — Jobos and the Isabela stops are worth seeing in daylight, and the hill roads back to the villa are easier before dark.
• Check surf and current conditions locally before anyone swims — this is a real surf beach, not a protected cove, and there's no lifeguard on duty.
• Combine two or three stops rather than trying to fit in everything — Jobos, Pozo de Jacinto, Cara del Indio, and the tunnel are spread around Isabela, not clustered on one block.
• Bring cash and a plan for food — we know Jobos has beach bars nearby, but we don't have specifics to hand you, so treat that as a bonus rather than something to count on.
